Class Wish List
Lincoln parents often ask how they can support the class, or if there is anything I need or would like to enhance our classroom experience. I am always so thankful when this question is asked, but sometimes can't think of specifics in the moment, so I thought I would include a Wish List of items that would be appreciated. These include items that you may already own but may not use.
Items You May Not Be Using
Old Cookware. Last year, I did a few cooking projects with the class and they really loved it. I would like to do more this year. If you happen to have pots, pans, spatulas, wooden spoons, etc. that you aren't using, I'd be pleased to take them off your hands (just please no pealing teflon).
Leftover Stationery. As an ongoing project this year, we're writing letters. Real, physical letters sent through the mail. I'd love to have any business stationery, envelopes, etc. that you aren't using. (We'll cut off the logos.)
Crafting Items. For the letter writing project, some of us are creating "art mail" – making origami envelopes, making illustrations and collages, etc. To this end, any crafting or scrapbooking items that you think might be useful would be appreciated, including patterned paper, decorative-edged scissors, stamps, stickers, etc.
Podcasting Tools
Handheld digital voice recorders. I'd like to have the kids begin podcasting. You may own one of these and no longer have need of it. They are also available new from about $30. They can get very expensive, but I think the ones that run from $30-$100 would be adequate for our needs. I am hoping to collect a number of them so that kids, working with partners, could check them out to work at home. The only requirement is that they have USB connectivity.
iPod/iPhone Microphones. I have also seen inexpensive microphones that plug into iPhones/iPods. These would also work to turn your device into a digital voice recorder. Since many of you or the kids have these gadgets, a plug-in microphone (along with free recording apps) can be a cost-effective way to begin.
